Nanae Fujiwara

Japanese guitarist, Nanae Fujiwara, received her Bachelors in Music with highest honors, summa cum laude, from Northeastern Illinois University under the tutelage of Dr. Brian Torosian. In 2017, she completed her Masters in Classical Guitar Performance from University of Alicante, Spain, where she studied with guitar legends Pepe Romero, David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Assad brothers, Fabio Zanon and Ignacio Rodes.

While she was a student at Harper College, Nanae discovered classical guitar at a late age of 20 years old. For this reason, she never imagined of becoming a classical guitarist but thanks to the support of her first guitar teacher, Steve Vazquez, she decided to pursue a career in music. Nanae is now an established classical guitarist and educator in the Chicago area.

Ms. Fujiwara has performed in various cities in Spain, Germany, Kansas City, and throughout Chicago. She is the founding member of Lyra Guitar Quartet and a board member of the Chicago Classical Guitar Society.

Nanae uses Augustine Strings’ Imperial Reds on her guitar made by luthier Richard Bruné.
